Coco on the Lido

Coco Chanel's favorite summer vacation hot spot, Venice Lido, a sandbar island famous for its wealthy party society of the 1920's and 30's, was the scene of Chanel's newest vintage-y mid-season collection . The collection, filled with carnival flavor and brushed out finger waves, is clearly chiming with the hype surrounding the new Chanel biopic with Audrey Tautou (set to be released in the U.S. sometime in 2009...date:tbd...whatabitch).

Lagerfeld did an exquisite job channeling the era of a young Parisian chic-gender bending-Coco, with a severe modern day twist (i.e. effing dark eye makeup, and much shorter hemlines on the minis). I personally love the nod to Peggy Guggenheim with the inclusion of her "bat-shaped" black sunglasses, because I personally love Peggy Guggenheim and her Venetian museum/life story. Now, I wonder what happened to my invitation to this event?
